Online Group Exercise and Education Classes

Online Group Fall Prevention Classes:

Open to anyone with an internet connection who is deemed safe to participate in an online exercise program by the Falls Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT), which can be accessed in the links below. The FRAT will be utilized prior to signing up for classes to determine which class best fits your needs.

  • 2 types of classes are offered: Low-Fall Risk and Medium-Fall Risk. If you land in the High-Fall Risk category, you may be able to participate in the Medium-Fall Risk class with modifications for your safety. Please contact Jocelyn for further details.
New class dates will be announced soon!
Class Structure:
  • Each class is led by qualified physical therapist, Jocelyn Woodason, PT, DPT.
  • Zoom links will be emailed to clients prior to each class.
  • The course is a 12-week progressive program, meeting two times per week.
  • Each class meeting will be 40 minutes in length. This includes a 10 minute education session, covering a different topic related to fall prevention with each class, and a 30 minute exercise session, including focus on mobility, flexibility, strength, balance, endurance, and coordination.
The latest research indicates a person requires 3 hours of exercise per week over the course of 6 months to significantly reduce risk of falls. These classes provide clients 1 hour per week toward that goal. The Zoom classes will be recorded and provided to clients so they can master the exercises over the next few days in preparation for the following class.
Once clients complete the Medium/High-Fall Risk class, they are encouraged to continue into the Low-Fall Risk class to continue improvement. When the Low-Fall Risk class is complete, higher level exercises will be offered to keep clients moving toward their goals. Clients are also highly encouraged to participate in activities they enjoy to keep them as active as possible.
Requirements for Class:
  • Access to Zoom using either the app or website (zoom.us)
  • A sturdy chair for seated exercises
  • A sturdy object to hold, as needed, for standing exercises (i.e., assistive device, railing, etc.)
Recommended for Class:
  • Family or caregiver standing by, as needed, for assistance
  • Gait belts may be utilized by family or caregivers, as needed

At this time, Even Keel does not offer in-person, individualized exercise programs, but this option will be offered in the future. Please check back at a later time. In the meantime, if you require a personalized, closely supervised program, please speak to a home-based or outpatient physical therapist in your local area.
